Richard Dawkins on Saddam Hussein's execution
Wednesday January 03, 2007

Dear Alice Miller,

I bet you are familiar with Richard Dawkins' last work "The God Delusion" in which he so eloquently points out the danger of indoctrinating children with religious beliefs. I admire his work but he clearly lacks knowledge of the psychological origin of it all.

This was also evident in one of his latest articles on his website where he spoke out against the execution of Saddam Hussein. Dawkins says that:

"Psychologists, struggling to understand how an individual human being could be so evil and so devastatingly effective at persuading others to join him, would give their eye teeth for such a rich research subject."

I am not a psychologist, but I am familiar with your work, in fact, you have saved my life, and thanks to you, I now have a very good understanding of the origins of violence, abuse and destruction.

I am not sure that Mr. Dawkins is familiar with your work, otherwise he would not have made the statement such as statement. I have emailed his team several weeks ago already, before this was even published to inform him of your work, however without any response or reaction.

My hope in emailing you is for you to enter in a dialogue with Mr. Dawkins directly. I know you can't force your knowledge and experience upon him, but he is a man of reason and definitely willing to engage in a conversation with someone of your status as opposed to me (a PhD student who is not even a psychologist himself).

Sincerely, M.M.

AM: Thank you for your suggestion. I am not sending around my books. The book "For Your Own Good" can be read online free on the web-site www.nospank.net. You can recommend reading it and this web-site to anyone who really wants to know what happened to us in our childhoods and what effects this had on our lives. But there are not many who do want to know.
